So, Del Buono, taking advantage of the fact that the comics were in black and white and there was no Internet, invented a ridiculous “Great Watermelon” festival that didn’t exist but made people laugh. He became a myth for generations of Italian readers. This is localisation. We do it, and we have a blast.

It’s fantastic to watch a film (or an educational video) in the original language… But if our knowledge of that language is limited, it can be complicated. Fortunately, there are subtitles, which need to be translated by someone. It’s not enough to know both the source and target languages well. You also need to consider the length of the texts, how to break them into lines so the eye can read them at a glance, and much more… Oh, and if you want a translation for dubbing, complete with timed scripts and lip sync, we can do that too.
