Creatives

At the core of our work is a dynamic and collaborative process. Our authors thrive and evolve through engaging discussions, sharing and proposing new ideas.

Why us?

We are the only organisation in Italy that specialises in managing intellectual properties in the field of childhood and youth, and our model is entirely innovative. At Book on a Tree, we do not sign exclusive contracts with authors and illustrators, but with their stories, ideas and projects.

You have a blank cheque

Each contract is binding for a single project and its duration. You are always free to work with other agencies or publishers on other stories, even simultaneously.

All for one

We focus on the quality and commercial potential of each project, ensuring dedicated attention and support.

One for all

In a project, every contribution is valued. Whether it’s writing, drawing, pure ideation or research.

We dream big

We have all the tools and resources to develop your idea across multiple media formats (books, films, games) or foreign markets.

We have a nose for talent

We collaborate with over 150 publishers, from large groups to small independent publishers. If you have a good idea, we know where to best showcase it.

We work as a team

We want to involve you in a friendly, respectful and informal environment. Whenever we can, we encourage creative exchanges in gardens rather than meeting rooms.

Collaborating with Book on a Tree

Like any respectable tree, our stories have their own blooming cycle.

1. First draft

You propose an idea or story after having thought it through, sketched it out, or outlined it in an initial brief.

2. Development and presentation

We refine the story with the support of our editors. Together, we create a project summary document and a writing sample.

3. Contracts and sales

We proceed with formalising contracts, forming the team to complete and deliver the project and selling it to the publisher.

4. Management and secondary rights

We manage reporting and negotiate adaptation rights for other media formats or markets. We enjoy the fruits of our labour and then, if you’d like, we can plant a new seed.

Want to propose a story or idea?

We have identified three public events when you can do this.

At Bologna Children's Book Fair
Between March and April
At ARF! in Rome
In May
At Lucca Comics & Games
In October
Can’t come and visit us?

You can send us a story or manuscript without commitment by writing to us at stories@bookonatree.com. If you want to ensure it’s read and critically evaluated, put “request for evaluation” in the subject line. We will respond with the name of the editor who is able to carry out the evaluation, the timeline and their compensation request.
