Detour. No way out
“Maybe that’s what we need to stop doing: looking for an explanation, a reason why. Stop asking why it’s happening, ask how, and maybe we’ll find a way to escape.”
Maya has got lost driving her jeep with her children, Clarissa and Mattia, on board. Maybe she took the wrong turn because of the storm, but now her mobile has no signal and there’s no trace of the SS48 main road. Outside, there’s nothing but woods and rain. After swerving around a fallen boulder in the middle of the road, she reaches a deserted town. Parked around the little square are a camper, a van, and a couple of cyclists. Shortly after, they’re joined by another family, five bikers, a man driving a Panda, two boys on their mountain bikes, and a woman. Everyone seems to have ended up there by chance. They all look around, confused, scanning the sky, already dark at three in the afternoon. It doesn’t take them long to figure it out: they’re stuck there, with no escape. It sounds ridiculous, but there’s no road or path they can take to get away from this place, which is becoming more threatening by the hour and seems to be swallowing up its visitors, who are vanishing into thin air.
- A perfect blend of thrills and suspense.
- A mystery-packed storyline with a slow build-up of almost tangible. tension, keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat till the last page.
