Blanche

Adventure

By day, she’s a lady; by night, she fights with a sword: this is her life as a spy!

1633, the French court. In the halls of the Louvre lives a clever and daring young woman: Blanche de la Fère, lady-in-waiting to Queen Anne, courageous spy, and quick-witted swordswoman with a secret alliance to d’Artagnan’s Musketeers! A tale of a strong and fearless heroine who embarks on breathless adventures, driven equally by heart and mind.

  • Secrets and subterfuge, twists and duels: life at court is an incredible adventure.
  • A strong and brave protagonist who fights tirelessly, using her intellect—and, most importantly, her heart.

A SPY FOR THE QUEEN

To protect her queen from the deadly intrigues of the court, fourteen-year-old Blanche, with her rebellious spirit, is ready for anything—even chasing the infamous Scarlet Lily, the King of Thieves, across the rooftops of Paris on a chilly autumn night.

HEART OF A MUSKETEER

The Royal Palace is bustling with servants and valets, and the courtyard is decorated for King Louis XIII’s upcoming birthday. But Blanche has no time for festivities: the wicked Red Fox is scheming to frame d’Artagnan, and the young spy is determined to thwart her plans at any cost.

TWO OF SWORDS

The court is mesmerized by Vitreum, a mysterious seer capable of divining the most hidden secrets from the stars. The guest of the king has everyone enchanted—everyone except Blanche. Suspicious of the foreigner with eyes like deep pools, the young spy’s investigations lead her to the heart of Notre Dame, where a shocking truth awaits.

ALONE AGAINST ALL

January. The king is away on diplomatic business, with Richelieu in tow. Queen Anne seizes the opportunity for an unscheduled adventure and convinces Blanche to take her out incognito into the streets of Paris. Disguised as commoners, the two slip out of the Louvre unnoticed. What begins as a harmless escape quickly escalates when they get entangled in a feud at the Lapin Noir tavern. Now, they must break the siege on the inn and return to the palace before the king and Richelieu come back and discover their absence.

Angélique Chevalier

Little is known about Angélique Chevalier’s life. However, records show at least three women by this name who, at different times between the late 1600s and the late 1800s, printed short and diverse works in Reims, just outside Paris. It is believed that the name Angélique may have passed from grandmother to granddaughter, or perhaps it was simply a nom de plume. This raises the intriguing possibility that at least one of these Angéliques was truly a woman of the French court—a would-be swordswoman, a lady-in-waiting, and Queen Anne of Austria’s personal spy. All excellent reasons, we think, to hide behind a pseudonym.
