Book on a Tree is an international storytelling agency that works with some of the most important publishers and TV studios in the world, producing books, comics, cartoons, video games, board games and much, much more! We are seeking a motivated and talented Graphic Designer with a good knowledge of the Publishing Industry to join our team of Authors, Illustrators, Editors, Copywriters and Translators.
The job will involve working closely with the Creative and Production teams to design a whole range of graphics both for clients and in-house projects. Graphics required will include book covers, internal layouts (from idea through to print-ready pdf) and book logos for a variety of children’s and YA books, as per the examples below.
The role will also entail creating artwork such as logos, plus graphics for comics, websites, emails, catalogues, and presentations as and when required.
At times, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for generating their own original visual ideas, developing concepts, graphics, and layouts. On other occasions, he or she will need to work to a strict brief and bring others’ ideas to life visually in line with a client’s requirements. In addition to creating graphics, the successful candidate will review final layouts and artwork for books, comics, and more, and suggest improvements if required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented person with experience working as a graphic designer in the publishing industry (preferably children’s publishing). The ideal candidate will combine a creative mind and natural flair for design with an organised approach and the commitment to deliver graphics to agreed deadlines. S/he will be self-motivated and work well both independently and within a team. The ability to tailor artwork to each client’s needs and an openness to constructive feedback are both vital skills, as are accuracy and attention to detail. Candidates must be proficient with Adobe desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
